Florida A&M University Multimedia Short Course

The NABJ Multimedia Short Course at Florida A&M University is a three-day intensive journalism workshop which provides hands-on experience and practical guidance of what it takes to be successful multimedia journalists.

During the Short Course, students will produce a newscast, webcasts, podcasts, video slide shows and related social media sites. They will be instructed by FAMU faculty and experienced industry reporters, news directors, producers, videographers and graphic designers. Topics covered will include Digital Journalism in the Mobile and Social Media Age, Web Writing and Photo Journalism plus News Package Production.  The students also learn strategies on how to market their skills to secure a job after graduation.

The seminar is open to juniors and seniors enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university as well as journalism or communication graduate students. Students must have a declared major in journalism or communication and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5. Students must be current NABJ members to apply.

Students who want to participate in this program will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the seminar. Housing and meals will be provided to selected students who live more than 60 miles away from the campus. Selected students must be committed to participate for the entire program.
