to be presented at its Fifth annual NABJ Media Institute on Health, Health Policy
and Health Inequities, April 4-6, 2013, in Washington, D.C. Proposals are needed
for 90-minute breakout sessions and sponsored workshops.
This conference, focused on health disparities in communities of color, is designed
to provide print, broadcast and digital journalists with tools to effectively report on
the impact of health care reform and health policy on underserved communities.
Topics addressed at the Media Institute have included the social determinants of
health, creative community solutions to health care access and prevention, the
Affordable Care Act, HIV/AIDS in the black community, mental health, childhood
obesity, and infant mortality.

Sessions should equip journalists and media professionals with skills and information

Each proposal will be reviewed by NABJ's Media Institute Committee.
