CANDIDATE FOR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

Enjoyiana Nururdin

University of Wisconsin-Madison
Madison, Wisconsin

Intro/Background

Enjoyiana Nururdin is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, editor and student journalist.

Education

Enjoyiana attended Robert M. La Follette High School in Madison, Wisconsin, graduating in 2017. Nururdin currently attends the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism with a minor in Political Economy, Philosophy and Politics.

Experience

Enjoyiana began interning as an eighth grader for her high school newspaper, The Lance. She became the editor-in-chief her sophomore year. Her sophomore year she also began working for Simpson Street Free Press, a non-profit community organization based in Madison. Enjoyiana is now the editor of Badger Rock Free Press, a new publication under SSFP. She has interned at various media outlets in Madison such as The Capital Times Newspaper, WORT Radio, Madison Magazine and GlobalGirl Media, all before graduating high school. She looks forward to her internship with NBC in New York City.

Related Experience

Nururdin has been involved in many aspects of journalism. She freelances for The Capital Times Newspaper’s segment “Let’s Eat” and serves as the External Relations intern for the Odyssey Project at UW-Madison. She also produces content for The Black Voice on campus and is a research assistant for Professor Susan Robinson at UW-Madison in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Nururdin is also an active member on campus of NABJ, Queen in You, Impact, Wisconsin Black Student Union and WSUM.

Statement

I feel that I would make an excellent candidate for the position of Student Representative of NABJ because of my experience and passion in journalism. I have been involved in various forms of media for seven years now, and as a sophomore in college, I have networked with journalists from around the nation. I would like to further those connections with other college students and represent the student population of NABJ.
