The Elections Committee is pleased to announce the list of certified candidates for the 2017-2019 Board of Directors:

Kyra Azore
Howard University
Washington, DC

Kyra E. Azore, is rising a junior broadcast journalism major, Spanish minor, currently studying at Howard University in Washington, DC.

Kyra enrolled into Howard University in Fall of 2015, where she is currently on track to complete her degree in Spring 2019.

Kyra has been dedicated to cultivating her journalism skills since she was in high school, which is when she began to work as a station intern at Clear Channel in New Orleans. Since then she’s as also work as a station intern as WWNO and WDSU in New Orleans, where she had the opportunity to sharpen her journalism skills.

Currently, Kyra is a News Correspondent for WHBC 96.3 HD3, the student run radio station on Howard’s campus, where she writes, produces, and delivers the news on air. Kyra has also recently accepted a summer internship with MSNBC in New York.

Related Experience

Kyra’s leadership roles date back to her time on Student Council in middle school. Thereafter she has continually been accepting leadership roles where she’s been able to enact serious change and programming. In high school she served as the Chairperson of the NORDC Teen Council, a council of teens that worked with the city’s recreation department and city council to create positive programming for teens.

Since her time at Howard, Kyra has accepted leadership roles in several organizations. Most notably, the Howard University Louisiana Club, where she serves as Events Coordinator and Public Relations Specialists.

I feel I would make an excellent candidate for the National Association of Black Journalist Student Representative because of my experience in working in leadership roles and creating programming for young people my age. I have worked extremely hard in every leadership positive I have held to ensure that the members gain the most from their experience, and I plan to do the same if elected. I have experience planning and working on large scale programs for more than 1000 teens.
