The 2019 Scholarship Application Process is Now Open for Students!

 

Each year, NABJ and our partners award scholarships to enrich and support the academic experience of students pursuing a career in journalism, media and communications.

 

The deadline for applications: Friday, April 19, 2019

NABJ Scholarship Award Distribution Process and Policy:

• An NABJ scholarship selection committee selects awardees based on NABJ’s scoring system and adherence to the application guidelines and requirements
• Awardees will be formally recognized in the convention program book, a press release and the NABJ website
• Previous awardees are not eligible to re-apply to any NABJ Scholarships
• Scholarship awards are disbursed in one payment to the awardees school upon proof of enrollment
• Students may apply for only one (1) NABJ scholarship. (NEW


Scholarship Criteria

College Students must be a:
Current NABJ Member
Have at least one (1) year of school remaining at the time of the application submission
Major in journalism, media or a communications-related discipline with interest of pursuing a career in journalism or media. 
Meet the cumulative 2.5 to 3.0 G.P.A. requirement verified on an OFFICAL TRANSCRIPT
Provide three (3) references; name, title, organization, phone number, and email address are required
Student who is currently enrolled full-time at an accredited college/university in the U.S.
Submit a resume and a one-page cover letter
Submit an essay on a specific topic (800 to 2,000 words)
Submit five (5) writing and/or work samples (e.g. articles, video clips, photos or personal website)

High School Students must be a:
A senior interested in majoring  in journalism, media or a communications-related discipline at an accredited college/university in the U.S. , following graduation 
Current NABJ Member
Meet the cumulative 2.5 to 3.0 G.P.A. requirement verified on an OFFICAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT
Provide three (3) references; name, title, organization, phone number, and email address are required
Student who is currently enrolled full-time at a U.S. high school
Submit a resume and a one-page cover letter
Submit an essay on a specific topic (800 to 2,000 words)
Submit three (3) writing and/or work samples(e.g. articles, video clips, photos or personal website)
