WASHINGTON (March 14, 2013)—The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) congratulates member Ebony Reed, Assistant Chief of the Associated Press' New England bureau, on receiving an NAACP Image Award.

The NAACP Boston chapter recently announced that she is among its 2013 Image Award recipients. Reed will be honored at a recognition ceremony in September along with other honorees. The chapter selected Reed for achieving success in her profession, being a role model in the community and having a commitment to diversity.

Reed previously worked as a deputy metro editor at The Detroit News, and as an assistant metro editor and a reporter for The Plain Dealer of Cleveland.

She received management training at Harvard University as a 2009 New York Times/Maynard Institute leadership fellow. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in media management from the University of Missouri.

NABJ congratulates Ms. Reed on receiving such a noteworthy honor.

An advocacy group established in 1975 in Washington, D.C., NABJ is the largest organization for journalists of color in the nation, and provides career development as well as educational and other support to its members worldwide. For more information, please visit
