NABJ Remembers Veteran Memphis Journalist Donna Davis

NABJ extends heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues of Donna Davis, a veteran TV journalist. She served as a news anchor and reporter at WMC Action News 5 in Memphis, Tennessee until 2008.  She passed on Sunday afternoon.

Davis began her career in radio during WMC AM’s news-talk era, during which she interviewed Mamie Till Mobley, the mother of Emmet Till. According to her website, she interviewed such notables as Oprah Winfrey, Al Green and BB King, and hosted events for the Grammy organization and the National Civil Rights Museum. She also founded PhoenixGirl Entertainment, LLC with a commitment to telling compelling stories. She was also the author of the book, “Confessions of a Peppermint Pattie.”

In the '90s she began working in TV news, including roles in Cleveland, Ohio and Fresno, California. Memphis was her hometown and she returned there to work at WMC Action News 5 in 2000.

She received her degree in journalism from the University of Memphis in 1991.
