A Message from the NABJ President

The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) continues to monitor fair and accurate coverage of black communities. We encourage the media and our members to report the big stories of the day, and to provide context. NABJ denounced President Donald Trump's attack of NABJ members and other journalists last year. Most recently, Mr. Trump has attacked members of Congress, all of whom are people of color, and disrespected the citizens of Baltimore, calling their city "a disgusting rat and rodent infested mess."
NABJ contributed to the Associated Press Stylebook updates last year and to the conversations on race and ethnicity, impacting AP Stylebook updates in May 2019, which included the use of terms racist and racism. NABJ encourages the media and others to defer to those definitions of racist and racism in reporting on the ongoing debate surrounding this issue.
