NABJ Statement on KKK Remarks Made by Alabama Editor Goodloe Sutton

NABJ issued the following message today:

"Alabama newspaper editor Goodloe Sutton’s call for ‘the KKK to rise again’ is outrageous and unacceptable hate speech. It must and should be called out as such. It is certainly a misuse of the public service that newspapers stand for. Violence is never the solution. Leaders of news organizations should display a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and avoid offensive comments like those made by Sutton."
