Welcome back to the Motor City.

After 25 years, Detroit is proud to host the nation's leading journalists, media executives and PR professionals for the 2018 NABJ Conference and Career Fair.Over the course of five days, you'll network with your colleagues, hear from prominent keynote speakers, learn about emerging industry trends, and understand the challenges and opportunities facing the city of Detroit.

Dan Gilbert and Dhani Jones have a lot in common. Aside from their respective backgrounds in sports, they both use their business acumen to chair successful, innovative companies. Join Quicken Loans chairman and Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert with Qey Capital Partners chairman and ex-NFL linebacker Dhani Jones for a fireside chat, as the two discuss their interests in disruptive technology and minority-and women-led businesses.

National Association of Black Journalists Day of Entrepreneurial Service
Saturday, August 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Wayne County Community College, Downtown Campus

The conference is hosting a Day of Entrepreneurial Service, where some of the organization's top journalists and public relations professionals offer guidance to small businesses and non-profits on how to brand themselves, handle social media and conduct press interviews. The event will open with a panel discussion about what makes a successful relationship with the media, followed by short sessions on branding and social media -- and how to successfully get your story in the news.

The event will help participants craft press releases, participate in mock interviews and provide tools necessary to position their companies and missions for increased media coverage. We still need volunteer journalists and communications professionals to help. Please contact BenĂ©t Wilson at
