NABJ remembers the life and legacy of humanitarian and civil rights activist Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as we approach the 50th Anniversary of his assassination.

In honor of Dr. King's memory, NABJ invites its members to share an essay up to 250 words expressing how his legacy has impacted their lives.

All essays should answer one of the following questions:
  • How has Dr. King inspired your work as a journalist or media professional?
  • What impact do you believe Dr. King's legacy has on today's journalism and media landscape?
  • Have you produced a written, digital or televised piece about Dr. King's assassination? If so, how did that project develop you as a journalist?
NABJ will share a selection of member submissions on our website, and on our social media channels, to commemorate #MLK50.

All essays should be submitted by Monday, April 2 at 5 p.m. ET

Submit your essay to info@nabj.org.

Please include your Twitter and/or Facebook handle with your submission. Be sure to "like" and follow our Facebook page in order to permit tagging in the event your essay is selected.
