NABJ Mourns the Loss of Former Board Member Victoria Jones

WASHINGTON (Sep. 8, 2016) -- NABJ mourns the loss of former NABJ board member Victoria Jones who died on Aug. 30, at her home in Aurora, Colo. She was 71 and had been battling uterine cancer for three years, according to Journal-isms.

Jones was a longtime executive producer of “Urban Update” and “Boston Common” on WHDH- TV (Boston). She also served as president of the Boston Association of Black Journalists in the 1980s and, in the late 1990s, a board member of NABJ.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Victoria Jones. As a former Region I Director and Boston chapter president, she helped to build the foundation for our presence in the greater New England market. We remain grateful for her contributions to our organization,” said Johann Calhoun, NABJ Region I Director.

According to family and friends, a celebration of life ceremony is being planned for Sept. 24 in Denver. NABJ will provide additional details when plans are finalized.
