Hello NABJ!

We are two months away from our historic 40th anniversary convention and career fair in Minneapolis. Hundreds have already made plans to attend. Have you?

Convention rates go up after June 15 so register today to save $$$. The host hotel Minneapolis Hilton is filling up fast. You can book your roomhere.

United Airlines is offering discounted airfare to Minneapolis. You may book online at and enter your Offer Code: ZUTE980386 in the Offer Code box when searching for your flights. We also have some deals to get you from the airport to the hotel.

Along with celebrating our founders, networking with colleagues and greeting old friends, we have a number of training opportunities the will keep your skills sharp and help you stay competitive in our changing world of journalism.

If you are curious about how to unlock the potential of data through simple tools you should check out the "Introduction to Data Journalism and Infographics." This workshop and lecture with Joanna Kao of Al Jazeera America will introduce you to the power of data as a source for your stories and show you the many shapes data can take in telling those stories.

Many newsrooms are now expecting reporters to shoot, edit and distribute their own stories across different platforms. At the "Digital Media Bootcamp"Founder Allison Davis will lead instructions on how to use your mobile device to create compelling news stories for broadcast, online and the web.

Producers have one of the toughest jobs in a television newsroom. They work with reporters, anchors, writers and management to make sure the public is informed. At the "Producing Better Producers" panel some of the best news directors in the country will critique your show and give you tips own how to stand out in your newsroom, your market and the industry.  Sign up here.

I want to remind you that we are holding the first election under the new constitution. There are new membership categories (Academic Representative, Media-Related Representative, etc.) so I encourage you to go to the elections page for the latest information. Your membership must be current as of June 15 in order to be eligible to vote. Go to and click on "members/join."
