Dr. King’s Influence on Modern ME in Media

Truth-seekers salute him
He let God use him
Even when his Godly purpose confused him
People go through great lengths to muddle his waters
But he continues to flow through history, effervescently
Not only is he history, but he's also a present to our future
He taught us the importance of practicing what we preach
He survived the humiliation and ignorant brutality
That would have killed his armed enemy
And ultimately, he died for his beliefs
American Dreamers commemorate him
Guts and spirit are the innate make-up of a scribe
Ink connects the dots of our existence, a bond we share intrinsically across time
Stories soar in this gallery of my life and I want to share my own
...because I have a dream, too
I humble myself, deeply invested in the power words hold.
A hero of words, King held them with care
From a rich history of crusaders
And because of their courage
My herstory is
He soothed a nation soul, one that was on fire with hate
One that smeared his name with accounts some chose to prevaricate
He carried the burden, with love as his core message
His dream opened an unimaginable blessing one,
like pen and paper, we still cling to
We still have a ways to go
but we still sing,
Let Freedom Ring,
Let Freedom Ring
For your inspiration,
I thank you Dr. King
