2014 Convention- NABJ Branding Exchange Program
Share |

NABJ Branding Exchange Program

The Branding Exchange is a new initiative that is perfectly suited for a convention titled Revolution to Evolution. It's designed to help journalists keep up with the ever changing landscape of media. We want our emerging journalists to learn how to grow their brand from the pioneers of brand building. The Branding Exchange is the designed to initiate an intimate exchange between journalists and personalities who have been able to establish a brand and carry it over multiple media platforms.

This is an invitation only event. The Convention Program will select the speakers and create a special committee to select the attendees from early registrants, those who register before June 15, 2014. The committee will decide who attends which session they attend based on information provided in the application, through suggestions provided by NABJ leadership, and information sought by the committee members.

The selected speakers are high profile and well decorated journalists who have demonstrated an ability to build a strong personal brand, a clearly identifiable set of characteristics, abilities, and or knowledge that gives that individual an iconic status. We have confirmed: Kevin Merida, managing editor of the Washington Post; Sheila Brooks, founder and CEO of SRB Communications; Benét Wilson, aviation journalist and blogger; Dwayne Wickham, NABJ founder and dean of the School of Global Journalism & Communication at Morgan State University; Danese Kenon, NABJ Visual Task Force Chair and multimedia photojournalist at The Indianapolis Star; and Jemele Hill, journalist and on-air reporter for ESPN.

The Branding Exchange Speakers are using their brand on multiple platforms and have displayed talent in transferring that brand across different companies. This group of speakers are willing and able to share what they have learned during efforts to create a marketable identity that is important to our members.

These Branding Exchange speakers will host private sessions on Thursday and Friday, July 31 and August 1st. Each session will be limited to 10 attendees and last 90 minutes. The session will include one facilitator to give a quick introduction of the speaker and assist in wrapping up the session.
