On Wednesday, September 17, 2014, this town hall will focus on the role and responsibility of the news media in the aftermath of the police shooting in Ferguson, Missouri. This discussion is not intended to draw conclusions on the actions of police officer, Darren Wilson, or the victim, Michael Brown. Instead, the town hall will examine how news reporters and photographers disseminated information around the world about the shooting and community unrest. The discussion will touch on the alleged harassment/detainment/arrests of journalists, public perception of the media coverage, and the use of social media and citizen  journalism as a reporting tool.

This event is being held in participation with The Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists and Harris-Stowe State University.
