Diversity in the Industry

What are news and other organizations doing to achieve diversity in journalisms ranks? Find the latest links and resources here.

UNITY/McCormick Foundation Electronic Clearinghouse for News Diversity
This data base provides more than 400 abstracts that clearly and concisely summarize articles, research and data on racial and ethnic diversity in the news media industry. It is free and easy to search.

Washington Press Corps Diversity Study
This 2008 study of ethnic diversity in the Washington press corps showed that only about 13 percent of the Washington daily newspaper press corps is made up of journalists of color, a slight improvement from four years earlier. The study was done by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University under a grant from the McCormick Foundation of Chicago. NABJ Focuses on Adding Black Supervisors
NABJ is alarmed that fewer black journalists are working as supervisors in America's daily newspapers and called on top editors to take advantage of NABJ's growing census of members ready for key decision-making positions.
