The NABJ Multimedia Short Course is aimed at encouraging more African American journalism students to pursue careers as multimedia professionals and managers. The project will give students access to African Americans who currently work as news directors, producers, writers, assignment editors, directors and the like, at some of the top television stations in the country, as well as give them hands-on experience and a practical understanding of what these jobs entail. Students will produce television newscasts, podcasts, slideshows, blogs, and online news stories.
QUALIFICATIONS
The seminar will take place on the campus of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fla., Jan. 21-23, 2010. The seminar is open to juniors and seniors enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university. Students must have a declared major in broadcast journalism or communication and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5. Students must be current NABJ members to apply.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Students who want to participate in this program will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the seminar. Housing and meals will be provided to selected students who live more than 60 miles away from the campus. Selected students must be committed to participate for the entire program.

Applications are due Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009. All applications must be submitted electronically. Participants selected will be notified by Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. ET.
