Anticipated Attendance: 3,000

Scope of Work:
NAHJ/NABJ is seeking a registration system that can encompass all the needs necessary to register its membership pre-conference and on-site conference. In addition, the system must be able to link the registration to convention housing.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Senior Development Contractor is required to have proven business connections and a track record of relationships with major company decision-makers. The Senior Development Contractor must have 10-plus years of management experience running a division or holding a major management position. The Senior Development Contractor must also have major board of director experience in which he or she was able to establish rapport with numerous business leaders.

     

    The Senior Development Contractor would use extensive business contacts to “open doors” for possible partnerships with the largest organization of minority journalists and media professionals in the country.

     

    The Senior Development Contractor will be responsible for a wide-range fund development plan by coordinating and assuring the implementation of strategies to build sustainable sources of revenue; and to gain support from targeted constituencies and the general public. The Senior Development Contractor will carry out details of fundraising efforts and other promotional efforts in coordination with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. At a minimum the Senior Development Contractor requirements are as follows: 

    1. Development Committee 

    • Provide strategic support to Board Development Committee for purpose of carrying out all fundraising and promotional efforts.

    2. Grants 

    • Conduct research on new potential sources for grants, as well as stay attuned to request cycles of past sources.
    • Write and submit proposals according to grant guidelines.
    • Send all follow-up reports as requested assuring use of funds according to grant parameters.

    3. Funding Relations 

    • Maintain accurate database/mailing list of supporters.
    • In conjunction with Executive Director, maintain and further develop meaningful relationships with existing donors.
    •  Develop strategies for recruiting and cultivating major funders.
    • Promote planned giving options with NABJ.

    4. Annual Funding Plan

    • In conjunction with Executive Director and Development Committee, develop annual fundraising campaigns to individuals, associations and businesses.
    • Carry out annual funding plan, with support of the Executive Director, National Office Staff, Development Committee and Board of Directors.

    5. Participate in NABJ Staff Meetings.

    6. Some travel may be required.

    The Development Contractor is required to have a demonstrated track record of successful significant fundraising for a non-profit or sales arena. Significant is defined as having helped raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Development Contractor is required to have extensive experience in customer relations and follow through from the time of contacting prospects to execution of all phases of sponsorship packages including post event analysis.

     

    The Development Contractor would use extensive experience to solicit and solidify formal sponsorship and partnership deals with the largest organization of minority journalists and media professional in the country.

    The Customer Relations Concierge Contractor is hyper-focused on managing customer relations through over-delivering on association promises. The Customer Relations Concierge Contractor is required to have exceptional interpersonal skills and a demonstrated track record of exceptional execution of all phases of client relations. Sales background and training with a major corporation is preferred. The Customer Relations Concierge Contractor is charged with responding to customer concerns within 24 business hours or sooner depending on the urgency of response needed.
