Andre Coe, a former editorial assistant in the Dallas bureau of The Associated Press and the cooperative's regional news desk in Phoenix, died at the age of 36 of cancer.

Coe was born in Fort Worth and grew up in Abilene. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in sociology in 2000 and returned to the school to earn a second degree in journalism in 2003. 

Specific Application Requirements:

  • Must major in journalism or a communications-related discipline with the interest of
    pursuing a journalism career
  • Must demonstrate a record of community service 
  • G.P.A. requirement: 3.0 or higher 
  • Essay - Why do you best qualify for this Scholarship?  (500-1,000 words)
  • Texas Resident or attending School in the Texas Area
