Request for Vendor Proposal
2011 Convention Theme:
The Power of Now: Claiming Your Destiny
The National Association of Black Journalists is accepting proposals for session topics to be presented at the 2011 Convention at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pa. on August 3-7, 2011
The proposals deadline has past.
As the National Association of Black Journalists returns to Philadelphia, with its history of empowerment and action, we invite proposals for sessions at the 2011 Convention that will teach current and future journalists new, relevant skills and push them to execute their professional goals.
The Programming Committee is accepting innovative, educational and entrepreneurial proposals that tie into our theme, "The Power of Now: Claiming Your Destiny.” All presenters must have demonstrated expertise in their subject areas and come prepared to teach and challenge convention attendees. All proposed sessions should be dynamic and compelling.
Journalists and media professionals attending our convention should acquire skills to collaborate within the digital environment — such as creating a blog, developing a mobile app or producing a data visualization project. We want them to leave with the confidence to transform their aptitude into action.
The Convention will be held August 3-7, 2011 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Proposals may be submitted for the entire group at the Convention (an estimated 3000 people), for smaller breakout sessions, short courses, learning labs, and sponsored meal functions. Sessions generally run for 90 minutes.
Each proposal will be reviewed by the Programming Committee. The proposals deadline has been extended to Friday, February 4, 2011, 11:59 PM. The person listed as the coordinator will be notified of the status of their proposal no later than March 15, 2011.
Please note, in order to keep the registration rate low for our members, NABJ does not pay for the cost of travel, hotel or meals expenses for its convention speakers and presenters. In many cases, the institutions or organizations of the speakers support the mission of NABJ by covering those costs.
For specific questions, please contact NABJ Managing Director, Ryan Williams, email@example.com or Convention Program Chair, Dr. Sybril Bennett, firstname.lastname@example.org.
