NABJ Membership Tops 4,100
Dear Members:
This is an exciting time in the history of the NABJ’s membership. We are proud to inform you that we are at 4,100 members and growing! This time in June 2004, we were at 3,400 members. This is a significant increase because we have not had this level of membership in the history of our organization at this point in the year. In addition, NABJ will have a very large presence at the UNITY ’08 conference.
This milestone illustrates that you the members are taking advantage of the tools and benefits that we provide to help you stay competitive in a rapidly changing environment. The NABJ’s partnerships with other organizations increased professional and networking opportunities and the improvements in educational content helped provide vital industry information to reach members in a timely fashion.
Members who have been away from the organization for several years have expressed how important it is for them to renew and retain their membership because they recognize the need to stay connected and network within the organization. This proves that we have been successful in providing you with valuable benefits.
Beyond the UNITY ’08 conference, you also need to be prepared for the additional professional opportunities we will offer to help you hone your skills as the industry moves towards digital and specialty media. Therefore, do not view your investment in the organization as being one week at UNITY, but look further than that to the innovative programs we will provide that will occur throughout the year.
We thank you for your commitment and support of our efforts to foster the professional growth of black journalists. We hope to continue being a valuable resource in the journalism industry.
I look forward to seeing everyone at UNITY ’08 in Chicago.
Sincerely,
Karen Wynn Freeman
Executive Director/COO
