WASHINGTON, DC (October 25, 2011)--The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) applauds member Michele Norris for adhering to the highest ethical standard with her decision to temporarily relinquish her role as co-host of the NPR News program "All Things Considered."

Norris, a co-host of NPR's flagship program since 2002, has recused herself from all elections coverage and will resume her duties following Election Day 2012.

NABJ believes Norris took necessary action to avoid any potential conflict of interest after announcing that her husband has accepted a position as senior advisor with President Obama's re-election campaign.

NABJ is encouraged that Norris will continue to contribute her award-winning work to NPR through special features and segments.

Norris, the 2009 NABJ Journalist of the Year, is the only journalist of color to anchor "All Things Considered." NABJ urges NPR to fill the void with the voices and content that reflect the great diversity that Norris has brought to the program."
