    What’s Hot and What’s Not

Top producers in local and national television take a look at the “best practices” of producing. Various shows and stories will be highlighted and dissected to give participants some practical ideas to use developing stories and programs.  Types of stories to be covered will include breaking news, investigative pieces, features as well as long-form programming.

Things Your Parents Never Told You: The Truth About Newsroom Politics

One of the key factors to advancement in the newsroom and in top management is knowing how to navigate the waters of newsroom politics.  This session will teach participants how to recognize some of the pitfalls and how to deal with the pressures facing newsroom operations in a difficult economy.

    Isn’t There Something Else?

Several news managers and producers are considering making a career change either voluntarily or involuntarily.  This re-invention session will allow participants to make an assessment of their current status and look at strategies for growth, both professionally and personally.

    We Can’t Find Any…

How do you deal with the fact that some new organizations say that they can’t find any people of color for producers and news managers?  We’ll take a look at how to keep a critical mass of people of color on track to assume these positions.  This session will also be informative for news organizations that are having difficulty attracting and recruiting top candidates.
