2008-2009 McCormick Tribune Fellowship Application Deadline
This year’s deadline moved from late October to early June
Evanston, Ill. (April 8, 2008) — Media executives of color who plan to apply for the prestigious 2008-2009 McCormick Tribune Fellowship must submit their application by the deadline of June 2, 2008. This is a significant change in the application and selection process from past Fellowship years. Fellows were previously chosen during the organization’s key meeting, the Fall Forum, in October. This year’s Fellowship class will have the advantage of being on board to attend this year’s Forum.
“The new application deadline will enhance the value and experience for this year’s incoming Fellows,” said MTF director Ava Greenwell. “They’ll get a running start on networking with peers and diving into the issues discussed at the Forum. They can take that momentum to the executive development programs they’ll attend later in the year.”
During the Fellowship year, the Fellows will attend executive education programs at the Media Management Center at Northwestern University. Fellows in cable, television and radio broadcasting attend the National Association of Broadcasters Management Development Seminar, and Fellows from newspapers, magazines, digital and new media attend the Advanced Executive Program. At the Center, the programs focus on innovation and strategic leadership, promoting a disciplined approach to managing personal, organizational, and cultural change.
Eight media executives of color are selected each year for the McCormick Tribune Fellows. Along with executive education participation, they become part of the Fellows Braintrust community of multicultural senior media managers and executives. The candidates are nominated by senior leaders in the media industry based on their professional achievements, innovative approach to the business and career potential.
