NABJ Region III wants to award a scholarship to a deserving college student enrolled in a school in Region III (AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX). The candidate must have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a journalism career, a record for community service, and financial need.

Calling all Investigative Reporters!! (Or those who would like to be) - Space is Limited

NABJ Regional conference, we are offering a special Investigative Reporting workshop conducted by Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE).

IRE is hosting it's Watchdog Workshop at the 2017 R3 Conference! Hone your investigative skills with tips and strategies from IRE's experienced trainers and a group of veteran reporters. At the end of the Friday and Saturday afternoon sessions, attendees will receive a certification issued directly from the organization.

These workshops require a separate registration fee. Participants receive certification and a free one-year IRE membership!

3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. From the Black Panther Party to The Black Lives Matter Movement: The Struggle Continues– With panelists from both groups, this workshop will give a history lesson on the Black Panthers and through comparison of the two groups show how much things have changed and stayed the same in the civil rights movement.
4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. Facebook Live: Like it or not - There’s an art and a craft to presenting live stories.  The goal is to post engaging content others will share. With so many people using Facebook Live on a daily basis, how can our stories compete on such a crowded platform?  Learn how to mine FB, a treasure trove of public content, photos, graphs and surveys to create more substantive Live experiences.
