WHY:  DC-NABJ is celebrating its 30th anniversary and launched a 30-30-30 campaign at the beginning of the year.  The goal is to host 30 events and raise $30,000 to support our scholarship fund and programs.  The chapter was established in December 1981 and officially founded in 1982.  The chapter has hosted two national conventions, several regional conferences, town hall meetings and candidates’ debates.  One of its main missions is to "sensitize mass media to institutional racism in news coverage and employment practices.”  We also provide scholarship opportunities in print and broadcast journalism. Last year, DC-NABJ brought home its second Chapter of the Year Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, our national organization.  For more information about DC-NABJ, please visit www.detroitnabj.org.

During our 30th year, DC-NABJ will continue to host programs that assist and honor our colleagues, embrace our community, and encourage students as they pursue careers in communications and journalism.  In order to do that successfully, we need you!   Purchase your ticket (s) today and spread the word!!

You can now buy your tickets online by clicking on the buy now button below.  Your tickets will be at Will Call on Oct. 6, 2012.  If you have any question or issues please contact Vickie Thomas at 313-300-2807.
