2008 CONVENTION LINKS Convention Home Special Events NABJ to establish professional scholarships for laid-off journalists

The National Association of Black Journalists joins the Asian American Journalists Association, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Native American Journalists Association for UNITY '08. Nearly 10,000 journalists and media executives will meet in Chicago to discuss issues affecting journalism and the media industry.

UNITY: Journalists of Color, Inc. is an alliance of the four professional organizations for journalists of color. The mission is to advocate fair and accurate news coverage about people of color, and aggressively challenge the industry to staff its organizations at all levels to reflect the nation's diversity.

Programming highlights from the NABJ Annual Convention and Career Fair will take place during UNITY '08. Plan to attend the Hall of Fame Banquet, the Salute to Excellence Awards Gala, the NABJ Film Festival, the Chicago Chapter Party and the Tampa 2009 Kick-off Party.

Before you can register, you must renew your membership. You can only register if your NABJ membership is active. Click here to renew today!

NABJ urges you to register no later than June 13, 2008, the Pre-Registration deadline. NABJ will not receive any proceeds from registrations received after that date. All funds will go into UNITYs General Fund.

All registration rates include a $10.00 tax deductible contribution to UNITYs General Fund.

Housing is provided by EXPOVISION, the UNITY '08 Housing Office.

Meeting/Reception Space

Meeting and reception space is available for rent. All reservations for UNITY '08 require a deposit of $225-$275 (depending on the hotel) for each room reservation and a deposit of $350 for each suite reservation. You are encouraged to make reservations as early as possible. The cutoff date for bookings is June 18, 2008. Hotel availability after June 18, 2008 will be extremely limited and all requests must be made directly with the UNITY '08 Housing Office.
