This is the only gathering of its kind devoted to African American journalists from print, broadcast and online industries.

Who should attend?
Anyone who practices in a journalistic discipline. This includes: print, broadcast and online journalism, as writers, reporters, editors, publishers, photographers, managers and owners. Public relations, online services and cable television professionals also are welcome. Students pursuing journalism careers are part of an important mix of NABJ's efforts.

  • What's in the convention program?
The program will focus on ways to enhance journalists' skills and adapt to an ever-changing environment. Technological advances have had -- and will have -- a significant impact on the way journalists report the news.

Our goal is to empower black journalists with resources and tools. The conference is organized around nine themes that enable attendees to focus on specific areas of interest.

    Those themes are:

    Broadcast
    Print
    New Media
    Management
    Ownership
    Career Development
    Hot Topics
    P.R. Specialists/Marketing
    Special Interests
    Young Journalists

Do attendees get any special travel discounts?
Yes! Visit our travel and lodging page for special discount codes and more information.

    Can I afford it?
Registration rates are affordable, based on whether you are a student or a practicing professional. Best rates are always obtained by pre-registering.

    How do I register?
You can easily register online beginning in February 2007. Click on the "Registration" link in the convention Web site. This will take you to a secure site, where you can fill out the registration form and pay securely using a credit card. Or, if you prefer, you can contact NABJ at (301) 445-7100 for a printed version of the form to fill out and fax or mail in.

    What should I wear?
Dress is business-casual, and we would suggest bringing comfortable shoes. Bally's Las Vegas has a large convention facility. We plan to utilize the convention center space in the most convenient way.

Can I pay by personal check or at on-site registration?
No personal checks accepted on-site. NABJ accepts on-site payments by credit card, money order and/or by a company check only.

How is admission to the convention controlled?
Each registrant will receive an official NABJ convention name badge. Your convention name badge MUST be worn at all times during the convention. Only individuals with an NABJ convention name badge can gain admission to NABJ convention activities.

Do I have to register my spouse and children?
Yes, if your spouse and/or child plan to attend any convention-related activities or events.

Can I register for the Exhibit/Career Fair only?
No. In order to participate in the Exhibit/Career Fair, you must be a registered convention attendee.

    Other questions?
    Contact NABJ's National Office at (301) 445-7100.
