NABJ Chapter Day Tools for Improving your Chapter
Wednesday, August 3, 2005
8 a.m. 3 p.m.

NABJ is providing an all-day training session for professional chapter leaders. The days itinerary will feature lectures, panels and workshops to help chapters improve various aspects of planning, from fundraising to grooming new leaders and providing diversity advocacy. The event is open to all chapter leaders, not only presidents. Student chapter leaders are also encouraged to attend.

NABJ Hall of Fame Banquet

NABJ's Hall of Fame was created in 1990. The NABJ Board of Directors voted to induct Charles Teenie Harris (posthumously), former Negro League baseball player who became a prolific photographer for The Pittsburgh Courier; Charlayne Hunter-Gault, CNN's former Johannesburg bureau chief/correspondent; Max Robinson (posthumously), NABJ co-founder and first black journalist to anchor a nightly network newscast; and Carole Simpson, former longtime anchor of ABC's "World News Tonight Sunday."

The Coast-to-Coast Workshop Choir
For its debut, choir opened for Pastor Donnie McClurkin at the 28th Annual Convention in Dallas. Last year, the choir performed at the UNITY: Journalists of Color ecumenical brunch. This year promises to be even more incredible as NABJ celebrates 30 years.

NABJ Hummer Hoops

This 3-on-3 basketball tournament, now in its 10th year, benefits the NABJ Scholarship Fund. Each team will be allowed four players in the double elimination event. Prizes will be given to the winning team of the event. Spaces are limited. Sign up now to guarantee placement on a team. On-site registration will be located near the NABJ registration area. The entry fee is $25 per person.

2005 Golf Tournament Saturday, August 6, 2005
7:44 a.m. 1:30 p.m.
Location: Wolf Creek Golf Club

The first tee time is scheduled for 7:44 a.m. Wolf Creek boasts a 7028 yard par 72 championship layout with bent grass greens. It has four sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. A practice range and practice green allow for serious work on your golf game or just a warm-up before your round. It has a full service pro shop run by Randy Greebeck a PGA professional.
