LATEST NEWS!

NABJ would like to thank its generous sponsors of the 30th Annual NABJ Convention & Career Fair in Atlanta. See who they are.

Cox Enterprises and NABJ Celebrate 30 years of Partnership at 30th Annual NABJ Convention in Atlanta (20kb PDF, requires the free Adobe Reader.)

NABJ invites you to join us in Atlanta at our 30th Anniversary Convention and Career Fair, Aug. 3-7, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

The NABJ Annual Convention and Career Fair attracts more than 3,000 attendees nationwide. It is the largest professional gathering devoted to black journalists. The 30th anniversary convention's theme "Telling Our Story" reflects our goal to continue to voice the passion, pride, purpose and power of black journalists.

The 2005 convention program committee is working to ensure an agenda that enable attendees to enhance their skills, network and fellowship with kindred spirits and interact with newsmakers and executives from leading media companies and other corporations.

The convention features the nation's largest journalism career fair and many skills-based and topical workshops, plenary sessions, "super workshops on specialized topics," professional development breakfasts targeted to various journalism disciplines, an awards banquet and gospel brunch, media receptions, an exhibit area and so much more for veteran, young and future journalists.

The convention program and 30th anniversary committees are also working to make sure we honor the 44 brave men and women who founded NABJ in 1975 as well as the 15 men and women our members have elected to serve as president of our association. We also will spotlight the 30 most influential moments impacting black journalists since 1975.

NABJ's convention goals include:

  • Identifying and highlighting innovative programs that enhance opportunities for current and future black journalists to be hired in all areas in all newsrooms, improve their skills, advance in their careers and achieve the highest ranks of the profession.
  • Facilitating systemic change industrywide when it comes to diversity and cultural sensitivity in newsrooms, news coverage and journalism education.
  • Fostering greater collaboration among journalists organizations and media companies.
  • Continuing to provide NABJ members, exhibitors, recruiters and sponsors opportunities to network and build relationships.

Don't wait until its too late! Register for the convention today!
