Open Position: Communications/Production Manager
COMMUNICATIONS/PRODUCTION MANAGER
The National Association of Black Journalists, an organization with a membership of more than 3,500 journalists, students and media-related professionals, provides quality programs and services to and advocates on behalf of black journalists worldwide. NABJ is currently looking to fill the position of Communications/Production Manager at its national headquarters.
The Communications/Production Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of various communications and marketing strategies to ensure the appropriate distribution of communications both inside and outside of the journalism industry, as well as NABJ membership. The Communications/Production Manager will also lead editorial planning, production and strategic planning for the quarterly NABJ Journal.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working with board members and staff to develop and distribute media releases
Regular updating of Web site content relevant to NABJ membership
Weekly distribution of the NABJ e-newsletter
Managing external vendors while working on publications and promotional campaigns
Planning the preparation and distribution of the NABJ Annual Report
Creating collateral materials, printed and online
Developing and implementing direct marketing/e-marketing campaigns to strategically disseminate information to members and the public
Manage/track budget as related to projects/areas of responsibilities noted above
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or related field required
Minimum five years experience in media, marketing, advertising or journalism-related fields
Must be very organized, detail-oriented, work well under deadlines with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at the same time
Strong interpersonal skills and professional attitude in working with internal and external clients
Thorough understanding of promotion development and execution process
Experience working with Web site content management systems
Experience in publication layout and Web design preferred
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and QuarkXpress desired
Working knowledge of media research
