Recent layoffs and cutbacks at several prominent news organizations have added thousands to the list of Americans currently unemployed and looking for work. The National Association of Black Journalists recognizes that these developments have touched NABJ members as well as non-members in our community. It is with this concern and fervent desire to assist wherever possible that NABJ announces a new effort at assisting those who have been recently terminated from employment: NABJ C.A.R.E.S. (Career Assistance, Recovery, and Employment Search).
Launched on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011, NABJ began offering members and non-members the opportunity to submit a profile to NABJ C.A.R.E.S. detailing their professional history and information. From these submissions we will do our best to match those who were recently laid-off with employment opportunities as they become available, as well as provide supplementary career assistance wherever possible.
