Deadline has Passed
The National Association of Black Journalists is
accepting
proposals for workshops to be presented at its 2012 4th annual NABJ Media Institute on Health
Health
Policy and Health Inequities.
Proposals are needed for 90-minute breakout sessions, half-day short
courses,
day-long learning labs and sponsored meal functions.
Topics
addressed
at the Media Institute have included understanding and covering the
social
determinants of health, creative community solutions to health care
access and
prevention, updates to the Affordable Care Act, HIV/AIDS in the black
community, mental health, childhood obesity, and understanding studies
and data.
Presenters must have
demonstrated expertise in their subject areas and come prepared to teach
and
challenge convention attendees. Sessions should equip attendees with
skills and
information that will increase their relevance in the newsroom and focus
on health disparities in communities of color and
providing print, broadcast and digital journalists the tools to
effectively
report on the impact of health care reform and health policy
on under served communities.
Each proposal will be reviewed
by NABJ’s Media Institute Committee.

Tuesday, January 13, 2012. The conference will take place
March 29-31, 2012 in Washington, DC.
