NABJ Reads & NABJ Rebuilds

The National Association of Black Journalists understands the power of service. As part of our 37th Annual Convention and Career Fair, June 20-24 in New Orleans, NABJ asks you to join us as we serve the Greater New Orleans community through our Day of Service. Our two service projects aim to leave an imprint, make a difference, and hopefully leave long-lasting impact through our efforts. Please join us for "NABJ Rebuilds” and "NABJ Reads”.

NABJ has partnered with the St. Bernard’s Project for an NABJ Home Makeover. NABJ has adopted several families in the New Orleans area, and work has begun on refurbishing the homes of these families displaced after Hurricane Katrina.  Join us on Saturday, June 23 at the dedication ceremony at one of these homes, and as we give well wishes and welcome our adopted families home.

Calling all NABJ Convention attendees – bring a book to Convention!

NABJ is partnering with the New Orleans Public Library to collect books for New Orleans teenagers. On Saturday, June 23, we will have an outdoor party for high school students across New Orleans. Our event will include a book drive, live entertainment, and interaction with journalists and celebrities who will discuss the importance of reading and writing.

 

Please help these efforts by bringing a book to convention to donate. A list of recommended books are listed below.
